Organised for tertiary students aspiring to build careers in the fast-changing retail industry, the “Retail Reimagined” Challenge 2026 offered a platform to develop essential 21st-century skills. Through “Leader Sharing” sessions and direct mentorship from experienced industry professionals, participating students explored the latest trends in New Retail — from AI-powered customer engagement to data-driven omni-channel strategies.
A five-student team called “Stratix” included Chow Pui Yung, Wong Hei Sen, So Wing Yung from the Department of Business Administration – Digital Marketing (HKSYU), along with Ku Ching Yiu and Poon Wing Hong from the Department of Economics and Finance (HKSYU). The team successfully progressed through earlier rounds to earn a spot among the 17 finalist teams out of more than 50 participating teams in the territory-wide competition. In the final stage, they presented their creative retail solutions to a panel of industry judges in a business case competition. Although they did not win cash prizes, the team gained invaluable experience, including hands-on mentorship, networking opportunities with retail executives, and exposure to real-world problem-solving in a competitive environment.

As part of the challenge, the team produced a short video presenting their vision for redefining the retail landscape for their assigned company. The video was entered into the competition’s online segment for the “Most Popular Award.” Their submission can be viewed at:

The Department appreciates the team’s efforts and continues to encourage students to participate in experiential learning opportunities that bridge academic theory with industry practice.
